From a Family Dream to a Mesa Institution

In 2012, founders Maria and Carlos Reyes opened Cafe Rio with a simple belief: that food made with real ingredients and genuine love tastes better. Starting with just six tables and a handful of beloved family recipes, they built something Mesa didn't know it was missing.

Today, Cafe Rio has grown into a full-service dining destination — offering dine-in, takeout, catering, and delivery — while never forgetting the community roots that made it all possible. Every dish still starts with hand-picked local produce and from-scratch preparation.

Grand Opening on Signal Butte Rd

Maria and Carlos Reyes open the doors of Cafe Rio with six tables, a passionate kitchen crew, and a menu of beloved family recipes. The community embraces us from day one.

2014

First Community Catering Event

We cater our first large community event — a Mesa neighborhood festival — feeding over 800 guests. This sparks the launch of our full catering division, now serving weddings, corporate events, and private gatherings.

2016

Dining Room Expansion

Growing demand leads us to double our seating capacity. We renovate the space with a warm, modern aesthetic and add a dedicated private dining room for special occasions and corporate bookings.

2018

Online Ordering & Delivery Launch

We launch our online ordering platform and delivery service, bringing Cafe Rio's fresh, handcrafted food directly to Mesa homes and offices. Orders surge by 40% in the first month.
